We have partnered with Forward Carers to bring a range of fully funded programmes and activities to carers across the West Midlands. All services have been specifically designed to address the difficulties and challenges that carers frequently encounter.
RESET BEAM combines structured learning with strength training, movement and breathwork, for carers who want to work on stress and wellbeing through physical activity as well as learning.
10-WEEK FULLY FUNDED PROGRAMME
Somaia offers RESET BEAM, a 10-week programme for carers, free of charge, thanks to funding from Forward Carers.
What is RESET BEAM?
RESET BEAM is a structured, educational programme that combines psycho-education with body-based practice. It's designed for carers who want to build resilience and manage stress through physical activity as well as learning and discussion. This programme is not therapy or group therapy, it's a structured, educational space designed specifically for carers.
Psycho-education means structured learning about stress, wellbeing and behaviour. Body-based practice means using physical activity, strength training, movement and breathwork, to build resilience and help regulate stress in the body, not just the mind.
"I'm taking ownership of my own physical health again."
"I feel like I'm carrying myself differently, and I'm genuinely able to smile."
"I walked into this feeling invisible, but I've walked out with a voice and a purpose."
"Feeling stronger is showing in my confidence."
WHAT DOES THE 10-WEEK PROGRAMME INVOLVE?
RESET Mind
Understand how stress, and the pressures of caring, affect your thinking and emotional wellbeing, and build practical tools to manage this.
RESET Body

Breathwork sessions include music and are done as a group, at your own pace, with no previous experience needed.
RESET Community

Please only book a place if you're able to commit to attending, so we can offer your place to someone on the waiting list if your circumstances change.
WHAT CARERS ARE TELLING US
"I’ve finally rediscovered myself and realised that I count, too..."
Before I started BEAM, life was a constant uphill battle. As a carer, I had become withdrawn and resentful, often questioning the point of it all. BEAM was a revelation, elevating the foundation of mental wellbeing to a whole new level.
My new normal is a total transformation. The negativity has been eradicated, replaced by an incredible energy and a genuine thirst for life. I've finally rediscovered myself and realised that I count, too. I walked into this feeling invisible, but I've walked out with a voice and a purpose.
Sarinderjit Jhutti, BEAM Programme
"I now feel I have a framework and the tools to deal with it."
Before the programme, I experienced underlying anxiety in lots of areas of my life, alongside a lot of self-blame, shame and guilt. A pretty brutal three years of bereavement and illness made me want to take real ownership of my life and move forward positively.
One of the biggest changes has been being intentional about enjoyment and rest. I've become much more aware of my own patterns and thinking, and I recognise unhelpful thought patterns both in myself and in others. Overall, I feel much more grounded, with a framework and the tools to deal with life's ups and downs.
