Next Carers programme starting 29th September 2026
We have partnered with Forward Carers to bring a range of fully funded programmes and activities to carers across the West Midlands. All services have been specifically designed to address the difficulties and challenges that carers frequently encounter.
The team at Forward Carers and our expert team of professionals are committed to supporting carers to build a better life for themselves and their loved ones.
10-WEEK FULLY FUNDED PROGRAMME
Somaia offers a 10-week RESET Carers Programme, free of charge, thanks to funding from Forward Carers.
What is the RESET Carers Programme?
The RESET Carers Programme is a structured, educational programme designed to help you understand your mind, body and environment, and how they affect you as a carer. This programme is not therapy or group therapy, it's a structured, educational space designed specifically for carers.
Psycho-education means structured learning about stress, wellbeing and behaviour. Over 10 weeks, you'll build practical tools and a clearer understanding of what's happening for you, alongside other carers who understand the realities of caring.
"Looking after myself isn't selfish, it's essential."
"I no longer rely on other people's approval to feel valued."
"I've learned to say no to things I can't commit to without feeling guilty."
"I used to feel so depressed that I hardly smiled. Now I practise gratitude regularly."
WHAT DOES THE 10-WEEK PROGRAMME INVOLVE?
RESET Mind
Understand how stress, and the pressures of caring, affect your thinking and emotional wellbeing, and build practical tools to manage this.
RESET Body
Sessions include guided breathwork, structured breathing exercises designed to help shift your body out of stress mode and into a calmer state. This is done as a group, at your own pace, with music playing throughout. No previous experience is needed.
RESET Community
Build connection and resilience alongside other carers, supported by Forward Carers, in a structured group setting.

Please only book a place if you're able to commit to attending, so we can offer your place to someone on the waiting list if your circumstances change.
WHAT CARERS ARE TELLING US
"I feel like I'm slowly coming out of survival mode."
Before the programme, I was living in constant stress that I didn't fully recognise. On the outside I was managing, but internally I often felt overwhelmed, on edge, and emotionally stretched. Learning to slow down was harder than I expected, but through breathwork and journalling, I started to release things I'd been suppressing for years.
My new normal feels softer and more aware. I'm starting to recognise when my body is overwhelmed and respond to it instead of ignoring it. I'm coming out of survival mode and into a place where I can breathe, reflect, and take care of myself.
Ansa Khan, RESET Programme
"I've learned I can take time out for myself, and everything will be okay."
Before the programme I was purely surviving, taking one day at a time. I was highly stressed with caring responsibilities, reacting to any aggravation with a short temper, and not caring about myself due to feeling completely exhausted, purely going through the motions.
I can now use techniques like breathing exercises, going for a walk or reading a book to regulate my emotions, and I've learned to recognise my emotional triggers before they take hold, staying more able to cope and better portion my time for daily tasks.
